Author of the book, Dr. Hari Har Ram has been throughout I rank holder (Intermediate Examination-UP Board, B. Sc. Ag.-Gorakhpur University, M. Sc. Ag. & Ph. D.-Plant Breeding-GBPUAT, Pantnagar, and ICAR-Senior Fellowship awardees on all India basis). He completed post-doc from West Germany and started his professional career as Assistant Professor (Plant Breeding) in 1973 at GBPUAT, Pantnagar and served in various positions including Professor-Plant Breeding, Professor and Head-Vegetable Science, Coordinator-Seed Science and Technology, Nodal Office-World Bank funded project, Pantnagar Centre for Plant Genetic Resources and General Manager-Seed Production at University Farm spanning over 33 years. In 2006, he left the university and joined as Vice-President and Chief-R&D, Krishidhan Vegetable Seeds, Pune and served there till 2014. He has served several times as FAO-International Consultant in Myanmar, Libya and DPR Korea. There are 9 released varieties of soybean, 26 of vegetable crops and 2 NBPGR-registered novel germplasm lines (1 in bottle gourd and 1 in vegetable pea) to his credit during the university service. He has commercialized 39 cultivars/hybrids of vegetable crops in seed industry making a record total of 74 released cultivars to his credit He has authored 18 books, 260 research papers/conference proceeding papers/abstracts, 16 chapters in the books and guided 25 Masters and 26 Ph. D students. His four books, namely, Vegetable Breeding, Genetic Resources and Seed Enterprises, Crop Breeding and Biotechnology and Vegetable Seed Production are popular among the students, On fellowship and invitations, Dr. Hari Har Ram has visited Nepal, Germany, UK. Netherlands, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Denmark, Mongolia, Myanmar, Libya, DPR Korea, Egypt, Colombia, Taiwan. Thailand, Hong Kong. Malaysia and China. He has served as Consultant-UPCAR, member in several ICAR-QRTs and RACs and currently is serving as consultant to few Indian seed companies.
